Thrilling Day in 5th Grade

A design challenge had students incorporating high thrill factors in roller coasters. Also, after a lesson on divergent thinking, students applied the components of originality, flexibility, and elaboration to a 7 minute drawing and then evaluated the anonymous samples for the criteria. They were great discussions! Take a peak at the energy in the room.

Creative Thinking

Fourth graders dove into the world of divergent thinking today! After learning about four components of divergent thinking (Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration) - a.k.a. creative thinking, they had the challenge of turning some random lines into a "creative" product. Students then evaluated the images for three of the criteria and nominated some to be recognized for the components. Students were pretty thrilled to be recognized for their flexible thinking, original ideas, and elaboration! It was great to hear these high level conversations!
